01 · Web Design & Development
Beautiful sites are the
bare minimum. I build for
attention and conversion.
Marketing sites, landing pages, e-commerce, and custom web apps. Designed and built end-to-end by one operator. Fast, accessible, and built to be owned by you.
The problem
Why most agency websites disappoint.
- ✕ You wait three to six months for a site you could have shipped in four weeks.
- ✕ Half your budget pays for hand-offs between designer, developer, and project manager.
- ✕ The site goes live and feels nothing like the strategy you signed off on.
- ✕ You cannot make a small copy change without raising a ticket and waiting a week.
What I build
Concrete deliverables. Not vague capabilities.
Marketing & brand sites
Multi-page sites with a clear narrative, fast load times, and a CMS your team can update. Built on Astro, Next.js, or Webflow depending on what you need.
High-conversion landing pages
Single-purpose pages built around one offer and one CTA. Wired to analytics on day one so you know what is working.
E-commerce & Shopify
Custom theme work, headless builds, or migrations. For stores that have outgrown the template-and-pray approach.
Custom web apps
Internal tools, calculators, client portals, dashboards. Anything that goes beyond a brochure and needs real logic behind it.
Design systems
Component libraries and tokens for teams that ship more than one product. Keeps the look consistent and the codebase sane.
Performance & accessibility audits
Existing site running slow or failing audits? I will tell you exactly what is broken and what it will take to fix.
How it works
Four steps. No drama.
Same process for every web project, whether it is a one-page landing or a 50-page rebuild. The scope changes; the steps do not.

Week 1
Discovery
A short call, a clear brief. We agree on what success looks like, who the site is for, and what we are deliberately leaving out.

Weeks 2 to 4
Design & build
I build in public on a shared link. You see progress daily, not on a big-reveal day three months in.

Week 4 or 5
Ship
Domain, hosting, analytics, the lot. Documentation handed over so nothing is hidden behind me.

Ongoing
Optimise
Optional retainer to iterate, A/B test, add features, and keep the site sharp. Or hand over and we are done.
What this looks like in practice
Project types I take on.
Marketing site rebuild
New positioning, new pages, new design system. Migrated from WordPress to Astro for 10x faster load times.
Landing page suite
Five conversion-optimised landing pages built in a week to support a paid campaign launch. Each wired to its own analytics goal.
Headless Shopify build
Storefront moved off the default theme onto a custom Next.js front-end. Same products, better story, faster checkout.
Operations dashboard
Custom web app for an ops team to track jobs, automate handovers, and stop living in spreadsheets.
FAQ
The honest answers.
How long does a typical project take?
A marketing site is usually four to six weeks from kickoff to ship. Landing pages can be days. Custom web apps depend on scope but I will give you a firm timeline before we start.
What does it cost?
Marketing sites start around R45k. Landing pages from R8k. Custom web apps are quoted per project. I will tell you exactly what you are paying for, and what is not included.
Who owns the code and the design?
You do. Full source code, full design files, full hosting credentials. No vendor lock-in. If we part ways, the next developer can pick it up cold.
Can I update the content myself?
Yes. Most sites ship with a CMS (Sanity, Tina, or a Markdown setup) so your team can edit copy, swap images, and publish without me.
Do you offer hosting?
Hosting is included in the project for the first year on Cloudflare Pages or your preferred infrastructure. After that you can renew with me or move it. Your choice.
What if I already have a designer?
Great. I will build what they design. I work to Figma files happily. The opposite is also true: if you have a developer, I can do just the design.
What happens if you are unavailable mid-project?
You own the full source code, design files, and hosting credentials from day one. There is no vendor lock-in. If something happens to me mid-project, the next developer can pick up the work cold. I document as I go, not on hand-over day. For larger engagements I also keep a short-list of trusted backup operators who can step in.
Do you use AI to write my copy or generate my designs?
Yes, and I am upfront about where. AI helps me research, draft, and accelerate the boring parts (boilerplate code, first-pass copy, alt text, schema markup). Every word that goes live and every design decision goes through me. The strategy, the tone, the calls about what to keep and what to cut: that is my job. You are not paying me to push a button on a chatbot.
Ready to talk about your site?
Let's build the thing.
A short call. I will tell you honestly whether I am the right fit, what a fair scope looks like, and what it will cost. No deck, no sales pitch.
